From Ajax, Barça, PSV, Liverpool and Lazio to ADO: ‘I have set the bar high’

In his youth, Bobby Adekanye did an internship at ADO Den Haag, Feyenoord and Ajax and then made the step to FC Barcelona via the Amsterdam club. After leaving Spain, he played for PSV, Liverpool and Lazio. Adekanye now plays on a rental basis for ADO Den Haag. He does not regret his choices.

For Adekanye it all started in Ajax’s youth academy. At the age of twelve, he makes a dream transfer to Barcelona. “Who wouldn’t want to play at Messi and Iniesta’s club? A lot of people said then, don’t do it. Stay here. But everything happens for a reason. If I hadn’t taken that step then, I might not have been here. “, says Adekanye in conversation with Broadcaster West.

Ultimately, Adekanye is not allowed to play for Barça, because the club ignored the transfer rules during the transfer. He leaves for PSV on a rental basis. From Eindhoven he leaves for Liverpool and then ends up at Lazio. He has now made his debut in the first team there. In Lazio’s first team, however, there is no place for him this season: Adekanye has to make minutes at ADO.

“Whether I’m really that good? Haha, you don’t say that about yourself, but I can say that I can kick a ball. I set the bar quite high for myself. I think it’s normal that people expect a lot from me. “he continues. “If I play a bad game and there is criticism, then I have to accept that. (…) I came here to help ADO, they don’t deserve to be in this place. ADO is a big club.”
