Word about the match day: Why Schalke 04 can no longer be saved – BUNDESLIGA

The hopes were high, the success ultimately zero. The Schalke horror continues under the new coach, the winless counter is now on 30 Bundesliga games.

And that although it was against what felt like the biggest build-up opponent the Bundesliga has to offer: Hertha BSC.

The Berliners are actually something like Baywatch troops, the league’s “All Forces”, who always knock you out when things get tough.

Was a club doing badly, was it on the brink of an abyss or was it actually already over it? No problem at all, the capital city club grabbed the problem child and pulled it back. Motto: “If you think it’s no longer possible, Hertha comes from somewhere.”

But Schalke couldn’t even score a success against the helpful Berliners. Also because the Herthaners are now starting to save themselves primarily.

In the end, at Schalke everything was like so often this season: Started pretty well, conceded a goal, then tried hard, but harmless and luckless. Nobody knows how big this should change.

With a victory at the debut, which might have provided a boost in motivation, it never worked out. The Swiss also doesn’t have time to slowly develop the team, to convey his system to them in peace.

Actually, the matter is clear: If Hertha doesn’t help anymore, Schalke can no longer be saved.

The Herthaners, on the other hand, are celebrating a successful start to the new year and with their victory they have a little cushion on the relegation place. In the next few games, the Berliners have to add more to avoid slipping back down.

Reif-Klartext over Gross
“I don’t know why he should suddenly manage the Bundesliga!”

You can’t be blinded by the 3-0 win against Schalke. The fact is: Twelve place in the table is not a sheet of fame for the capital club. There is hardly any other club that gapes demand and reality as far apart as Hertha.

In any case, you can say goodbye to “Big City Club” ambitions this season. The “sleeping giant” slept through, twitching at most briefly, while the small neighbor Union (2-0 at Werder, fourth place) next door really turns up the bass.
