Tottenham has started the new year with a 3-0 win. Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Toby Alderweireld scored the goals against Leeds United. The Spurs re-enter the top three after a lesser period and a canceled game.
After four league games without a win in a row at the end of 2020, Tottenham could not afford another loss of points against Leeds.
Not much happened in London in the first half hour. When Steven Bergwijn was knocked down just inside the penalty area, Harry Kane broke open the match from the spot: 1-0.
Just before half-time, Heung-Min Son doubled after a great assist from the same Kane. The South Korean’s header goal was his 100th in the service of Tottenham.
After the break, Toby Alderweireld took the tension almost immediately out of the game. On a corner from Son, he walked well away from his man, to then nod the 3-0 over the line.
With three points added, Tottenham is again third in the standings, four points behind leaders Liverpool and Manchester United.
