Champions final

With the Eurocup and the America’s Cup in sight, the Champions League final will be the perfect aperitif for lovers of the most universal of sports. The decisive match will take place at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium, where the 2020 final was scheduled to be played. It will be played on May 29, 2021. Saint Petersburg, the previous 2021 host, will host the final. of 2022.

With a capacity for more than 70,000 spectators, the Atatürk Olympic Stadium hosts the matches of the Turkish national team and has been the temporary home of Galatasaray, İ Başakşehir and Beşiktaş on several occasions. Officially known as the Games of the 32nd. Olympiad, will take place from July 23 to August 8, 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. It will be the second Olympic Games in Tokyo. The first time it was held in 1964. In the first instance, the event was going to take place between July 22 and August 9, 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on March 24, 2020 the Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and IOC President Thomas Bach agreed to postpone the event keeping the name “Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games”.

For its part, the Paralympic Games in the Japanese capital will be the sixteenth of its kind and different events will be played in 22 sports. These Games will see the introduction of badminton and taekwondo to the Paralympic program, while sailing sports and football 7 will be eliminated.

Soccer Eurocup

Euro 2020 will be the sixteenth edition of the European tournament for national teams. It was originally going to be played in 2020, however the tournament was postponed until 2021 due to the pandemic. Despite being held in 2021, the tournament will keep the name of “Eurocup 2020.” For the first time the final phase of the Eurocup will host cities from 12 different associations on the continent, according to a decision adopted in January 2013 by the Committee UEFA Executive, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of this competition. The 12 cities that will host the tournament are: Amsterdam (Netherlands), Baku (Azerbaijan), Bilbao (Spain), Bucharest (Romania), Budapest (Hungary), Copenhagen (Denmark), Dublin (Ireland), Glasgow (Scotland), London (England), Munich (Germany), Rome (Italy), Saint Petersburg (Russia). The final will be played at Wembley in London.

America Cup

The Copa América 2021 will be the 47th. edition of this tournament, the main soccer competition between the national teams of South America, organized by the South American Soccer Confederation (Conmebol), the soccer administration entity in South America, an organ affiliated to FIFA.

This edition was not originally on the calendar, but Conmebol decided their dispute to equalize the calendar with the Eurocup that was also to be held in 2020. Thus it was that both the Colombian Football Federation and the Argentine Football Association were officially nominated as candidates to host the South American tournament alone. Finally, on April 9, 2019, Conmebol established that it would be played in both countries. From this edition, the following South American tournaments will be held in even-numbered years, as is the case with the Copa América 2024, which was first to take place in 2023.

World Wrestling Championship

The 71st. World Wrestling Championship will be held in Oslo under the organization of United World Wrestling and the Norwegian Wrestling Federation.

World Judo Championship

The 39th. World Judo Championship will be held in Vienna (Austria) between September 12 and 19, 2021, coordinated by the International Judo Federation and the Austrian Judo Federation.

Handball World Cup

The 27th. Men’s Handball World Championship will be held in Egypt between January 13 and 31, 2021, under the organization of the International Handball Federation and the Egyptian Handball Federation.

Basketball: 3×3 Men’s and Women’s Pre-Olympic Tournaments

The pre-Olympic basketball tournament in the 3×3 qualification discipline for the Tokyo Olympic Games, which should have been played last March in Bengalore (India), will be held from May 26 to 30, 2021 in the Austrian city of Graz Heading to Tokyo, the 3×3 basketball team will have eight teams in the men’s competition and another eight in the women’s competition. The World Rowing Championships will be held in Shanghai, China, from October 17 to 24, 2021, led by the International Federation of Rowing Societies and the Chinese Rowing Federation. The competitions will be held at the Water Sports Center, located on Dianshan Lake, west of the Chinese city.

Road Cycling World Championship

The 88th. World Road Cycling Championship will be held in the Flanders region (Belgium) between September 19 and 26, 2021, and will be organized by the International Cycling Union and the Belgian Cycling Union. The championship will consist of races in the time trial and road specialties, in the men’s elite, women’s elite, men’s sub-23, junior men’s and junior women’s divisions; in addition, a mixed relay race will be held. In total, 11 world champion titles will be awarded, seven in the senior category and four in the youth category.

World Artistic Gymnastics Championships

The World Artistic Gymnastics Championship is the highest international competition in this discipline. It has been organized since 1903 by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), although female participation dates from 1934. At the moment it is held every year, except for the years in which there are Summer Olympic Games. Due to the current situation due to the pandemic, this year will be the exception.
