These two DFB stars may well leave Borussia Dortmund

With the victory over VfL Wolfsburg, BVB averted a worse crisis. But BVB could still miss its goals. Two national players are apparently left out.

Borussia Dortmund is reportedly planning to give up two national players: Nico Schulz and Julian Brandt. This is reported by the “Bild” newspaper. While Schulz is to be sold, Brandt’s final sale should not be an issue.

The 24-year-old, who has been with BVB since summer 2019, could be loaned if there was a corresponding offer, according to the “Bild”. Brandt still has a contract with Borussia until 2024.

Just like Schulz, who is allowed to leave the club if an offer is made. The national player also moved from TSG Hoffenheim to Borussia in 2019.

Two national players not good enough for BVB?

So two DFB players would currently play no role in the plans of Favre’s successor and new coach Edin Terzic.

On the other hand, Sebastian Kehl made a statement on Wednesday: “Of course we think about it, but there is nothing that is planned in any way,” said the licensed player boss about any transfer activities.

But could BVB cope with the departure of the two national players?

The fact is: In the three league games under Terzic in Bremen (2: 1), at Union Berlin (1: 2) and against Wolfsburg (2: 0), both were hardly used. Terzic relied on Raphael Guerreiro in Schulz’s actual position at the back left. Schulz only came to a brief appearance (substituted in the 85th minute) in Berlin.

Brandt also had to watch all three games, got a total of only 35 minutes of playing time against Union and Werder and even braised the entire 90 minutes on the bench at the start of the year against Wolfsburg.
