Our archivist colleague from RDS Francois Massicotte (yes, he has the same name as the pub guy from Sponge Towels) a very interesting Youtube channel. There he unwraps many rare packets of hockey cards.
And since his historical knowledge is enormous, he tells us stories about certain players he sees appear on his maps.
Opening packages that date back to the 70s, 80s and 90s, François realized that some players looked much older than their actual age.
Gray hair… baldness… mustaches… wrinkles… here is a spectacular compilation.

Here’s Greg Oden as he was just picked first overall in the NBA Draft. He was only 19 years old.

Closer to home, there is Claude Raymond. Here he is at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in 1982. He was 45 at the time.
