Tommy Lasorda’s sudden death is a huge loss to baseball. Per ESPNLasorda made it through the Dodgers for 20 years and is perhaps best known for bringing a win to Los Angeles after beating rival New York Mets in 1988. Due to his many successes as a manager, he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997 and was its oldest living member until his death, per NBC News.
After the news of his death, several people spoke about the great loss. “Words cannot express my feelings,” wrote former Mets manager Bobby Valentine Twitter back then. “A friend and mentor has not been with us for 52 years. Tommy, no one will ever fill the void you left. Thank you for everything. RIP “A tribute to the baseball legend. Sport bar stool tweeted a photo of the former manager with his own quote: “I bleed Dodger blue and when I die I’ll go to the big Dodger in the sky.”
