The Denver Nuggets, led by Nikola Jokic, emerged victorious against the Timberwolves in Game 5.
Denver had to go into its bench earlier than it might like when Aaron Gordon picked up a pair of fouls in the first 3:41, and Holiday replaced Gordon.
Afterwards, Jokic returned to playing. He made six out of seven shots in the quarter, dominating Gobert in the post whenever they were matched up.

Although some of Jokic’s fellow players, such as Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr., faced difficulties in scoring, it did not affect the outcome. Jokic compensated by making 15 out of 22 shots.
Coach Chris Finch announced that Mike Conley of the Timberwolves was unsure if he would play in Game 5 due to soreness in his right Achilles.
Following a strong start by the Wolves with an 11-3 lead, the NBA’s MVP resumed his dominance, rendering the Wolves defenseless. Jokic contributed 16 points and four assists in the third quarter, causing the Wolves to lose morale.
Despite facing constant pressure from two defenders and being unable to establish an effective scoring pace throughout the entire game, Edwards’ performance paled in comparison to Jokic’s dominant display in the third quarter. Jokic orchestrated a remarkable 16-point contribution during this time, demonstrating exceptional control and skill. Edwards ultimately scored 18 points and made nine assists in 44 minutes, shooting 5-of-15 from the field.

The All-Star guard for the Wolves struggled to find his offensive flow in the first half due to constant pressure from Denver’s defense. The absence of Naz Reid and Karl-Anthony Towns, who were dealing with foul trouble, made it easier for Denver to focus on shutting him down.

In the opening two quarters, Nikola Jokic contributed 19 points and eight assists for Denver. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Karl-Anthony Towns each scored 11 for the Wolves.
At 10:46 p.m., Jokic scored 19 points and the Nuggets are ahead at halftime while Edwards struggles to get into his rhythm.
The team expressed disappointment over Gobert’s actions of rubbing his fingers together in a “money sign” after receiving an offensive foul from referee Scott Foster. They also brought up the issue of the league’s unequal punishment for Gobert compared to Nuggets’ Jamal Murray. In Game 2, Murray also made the same gesture and even threw objects onto the court, resulting in a 0,000 fine for both incidents combined.

Jokic’s incredible performance reduced the Wolves to mere spectators for the remainder of the game. The Denver Nuggets were able to defeat the Wolves 112-97 in Game 5, putting themselves in a 3-2 series lead.
Anthony Edwards, the guard for the Wolves, scored nine points from free throws. However, the Wolves defense, which was strong in the first two games, has been struggling since then.
The Wolves have been defeated in three consecutive games, marking their first losing streak of the season. They now risk elimination at Target Center in Game 6 on Thursday night.
