When is it safe to resume sports activities after infection with COVID-19? The Danish Sports Medicine Society has prepared a guideline for athletes who have been infected with COVID-19 and now want to return to their sport. Get it here.

Sports physicians at the Danish Sports Medicine Society are ready with a new guideline that applies to athletes who want to return to sports (RTS) after a mild or moderate course of illness in COVID-19 infection.

Basics apply, that you must be able to tick the following before considering returning to your sport after COVID-19 infection:

  • You must ensure a minimum of 10 days rest after the onset of symptoms and have been without symptoms for at least 7 days.
  • You must be able to cope with daily activities and 500 meters of walking in flat terrain without feeling tired and breathless.

In addition, it is wise to start cautiously in the following stages of varying duration:
