Portland Trail Blazers’ CJ McCollum is out injured for at least a month

CJ McCollum will be missing the Portland Trail Blazers a little longer. The shooting guard has probably pulled a hairline crack in his foot and will be out for at least a month.

This is what Chris Hayes reports (Yahoo) and Shams Charania (The Athletic) consistent. The Blazers will examine McCollum again in four weeks and then see when the last formally strong guard is ready for action again.

McCollum was injured against the Atlanta Hawks (112: 108) at the weekend when guest center Clint Capela landed on the 29-year-old’s foot after a lay-up. The guard played the first half to the end, but then stayed in the cabin.

Blazers coach Terry Stotts spoke of a sprain and a possible downtime of a week immediately after the game, but now it will be at least a month. For McCollum, Rodney Hood started on the two in the loss to San Antonio on MLK Day.

McCollum had started the season with a strong start and put up an average of 26.7 points and 5.0 assists in the 13 games. So far, the shoot has been particularly impressive, with 11.0 attempts from a distance, McCollum hit 44.1 percent of them. The Blazers are now in sixth place in the Western Conference with a balance of 8-6.
