In this Tuesday’s NFL news: the reasons Doug Pederson left the Eagles; the Cowboys have a new defensive coordinator and more.
Pederson, tired of being told what to do
The Philadelphia Eagles fired Doug Pederson as their head coach on Monday. However, it is reported that he himself was the one who triggered his departure from the NFC East team. It seems that he ended up getting tired and fed up of people telling him what to do and from that he unleashed his last moments as head coach of the franchise that made him the Super Bowl champion in the LII edition.
After speaking with two people close to former #Eagles coach Doug Pederson, it sounds like this is what it boiled down: Pederson was sick of people telling him what to do.

Wentz could stay with the Eagles
Topic to watch on the NFL news. Following the departure of Doug Pederson as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, the chances for QB Carson Wentz to return to the team next season increase considerably. It was practically imminent that Wentz would leave Philadelphia after being seated at the close of the 2020 Season in favor of rookie Jalen Hurts. Now that he has a new coach, he could stay.

Veldheer makes NFL playoff history
After starting as LT for the Indianapolis Colts in the Wild Card Round, veteran Jared Valdheer agreed to sign with the Green Bay Packers to play this postseason. With this, the offensive lineman becomes the first player in NFL history to play for two teams in the same playoffs. The new practice squad and COVID-19 rules made this move possible (valid this campaign only).

Quinn, Cowboys’ new defensive coordinator
The Dallas Cowboys have a new defensive coordinator. After announcing the firing of Mike Nolan from that position last week, the NFC East squad reached an agreement with Dan Quinn to be his replacement. Quinn was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020, but later was the defensive coordinator for the Seahawks when Seattle reached the Super Bowl in consecutive seasons (with his defense).
Former Falcons’ HC Dan Quinn and the Cowboys reaches agreement for him to become Dallas’ defensive coordinator, per source.

Castonzo announces his retirement from the NFL
Indianapolis Colts LT Anthony Castonzo announced his retirement from the NFL after ten seasons as a professional. The offensive lineman missed the 2020 playoff game due to a severe ankle injury and days later he is announcing that he will not play again. He entered the league in 2011 as a first-round pick and, of the 144 games he played, he started each of them.
