Matt Patricia comes home.
According to what Jim McBride reported from Boston GlobeOn Friday, former Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia accepted a job with the New England Patriots.
Patricia will make a comeback with New England after having worked there from 2004 to 2018. Its functions have not been clearly defined within the group of coaches of Bill Belichick, while McBride suggests that he will fulfill “a variety of roles ”.
Patricia was shown the door by the Detroit Lions last season after going 13-29-1 in three seasons at the helm.
The 46-year-old is best known for her contributions as the Patriots’ defensive coordinator starting in 2012, as he helped the team land two more Super Bowl rings before leaving in 2018.
The Pats will want to bounce back next season after enjoying a campaign with a 7-9 record as they missed the playoffs.
