JJ Watt may well have played his last game in the Houston Texans uniform.

That’s what some of his teammates and coaches believe according to NFL Network’s James Palmer.

While the Texans are focused for now on convincing quarterback Deshaun Watson to forgo the change of scenery he is asking for, the team are also reportedly aware that they need to offer Watt some clarification about his future.

Texans management ensures that Watson and Watt remain in the plans of the team.

Watt, the face of the franchise for a decade, confronted former general manager and head coach Bill O’Brien earlier this season ahead of O’Brien’s firing.

Leaving the field at the end of Week 17, Watt apologized to Watson for wasting one of the quarterback’s best seasons. He further questioned the work ethic of his teammates during the season.

The 31-year-old defensive end, who has been voted NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times, has one more season to go on his contract. By swapping him in or releasing him, the Texans would save his full paycheck of $ 17.5 million.
