The Mets added a nice piece to their starting rotation and this could spell Seth Lugo’s return to the reliever corps, according to a comment from MLB analyst Jon Heyman,

Now that they have Carlos Carrasco, the Metropolitans are counting on the Venezuelan to join Jacob deGrom and Marcus Stroman in the top three spots of the starting quintet.

For the last two places they have candidates like David Peterson, Steven Matz, Corey Oswalt and the possibility of Noah Syndergaard for the second part of the 2021 campaign.

Lugo is a good long reliever who has five seasons with the Mets in the majors. Its effectiveness in all this time is 3.45 with better performance when used as a fire extinguisher.
