This is probably a real relief for the leaders of the Olympique de Marseille. For several months, the club phocen has been trying, desperately, to get rid of midfielder Kevin Strootman.
Recruited for 25 million euros in the summer of 2018 from AS Roma, the Dutch international has never been able to convince on Canebire and stands out as a real flop.

In addition to his insufficient performance, the 30-year-old player especially leads the finances of the current 5th in Ligue 1 with his XXL salary, estimated 500,000 euros per month. But good news for OM, Strootman will take over the management of Genoa in this winter transfer window! Indeed, according to information from Sky Italia, the Marseillais will be the subject of a loan, without option to buy, within the Italian club until the end of the season.
In this operation, Marseille will continue to support part of the expenses of the former Roma player, but will thus limit the damage on the financial level. A weight less for OM
In sporting terms, Andr Villas-Boas will still lose one of his options in the midfield. But with just 227 contested minutes since the start of the season, Strootman was only a replacement for the Portuguese coach. Financially, this departure will do OM good.
