María Julieth Pérez Tangarife is part of the Quindian team and the Colombian badminton team.
María Julieth Pérez Tangarife started in badminton at the age of 12, when Jaime Zapata, her physical education teacher and current coach, saw in her the physical abilities and conditions to practice this sport.
He has had the opportunity to participate in national and international events such as: national games of 2015 and 2019; Pan American and South American games.
“What stood out the most about this beautiful sport is the discipline and joy it generates when playing it, I feel that I owe half of my life to this sport, what I am today and what lies ahead,” said Pérez Tangarife.
The champion trains tirelessly from Monday to Saturday in days that last up to 6 hours a day, focusing on strengthening the physical and technical part.

This year it has its first competition in March and it will be in Havana, Cuba.
Her next goals and biggest challenges will be the 2023 national games, where she hopes to achieve the gold medals in the modalities of women’s singles, mixed doubles, women’s doubles and by teams.
Additionally, it is preparing to reach the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, in which it hopes to leave the name of Colombia high.
