Manuel Jiménez, appointed president of the Eastern Basketball League organizing committee

EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.- You can already feel the air of good basketball in this municipality. This weekend the mayor of Santo Domingo Este, Manuel Jiménez, took office as president of the organizing committee of the first tournament of the Eastern Basketball League (LBO), which will be held in the middle of this year 2021 and which has a special dedication to the 20 years of the municipality, for which the Santo Domingo Este Cup, 20 years of the City will be played.

Immediately, Jiménez headed the first meeting where he learned about the operational management and what has been done with a view to having a championship in style.

The president and general manager of the LBO, Amauri Peña, presented to the mayor the process of raising the possible venues, the situation of the clubs to participate in the tournament and how the event will be promoted.

In addition, the league’s technical director, Eddy González, presented the possible calendar to the Mayor, in a meeting that was attended by the members of the operational management, professor Roberto Neris, journalist Domingo Batista, and deputy Enmanuel Félix to the as well as the championship marketing manager, Milly Carmen Reyes.

Manuel Jiménez also expressed his opinions on the matter and several suggestions that would help advance the preparations for the first edition of the LBO.

On October 16, 2001, Law 163-01 was enacted that creates the province of Santo Domingo, and modifies Articles 1 and 2 of Law No. 5220, on Territorial Division of the Dominican Republic, so this tournament celebrates the 20 years of the city of Santo Domingo Este and recognizes the great growth that the municipality has had, in all aspects, during these two decades.
