Liga Betplay: Could it be affected by a new peak of covid-19 infections in Colombia? – Colombian Soccer – Sports

The second wave of covid-19 infections in the world has international football on alert, due to the growing number of infections. In Colombia, they are not immune to this impact, especially now that new measures are being taken in different cities, with quarantines and restrictions on mobility.

The president of the Dimayor, Fernando Jaramillo, considers that the championship can start as planned, the weekend of January 17.

Regarding the measures taken in Bogotá, announced this Thursday by the Mayor’s Office, Jaramillo commented:

“It affects us in the sense that some teams have problems training, but some have permission, for example in Bogotá, to go to their headquarters to train,” he told EL TIEMPO.

On the other hand, he confirmed that there is difficulty in using the Techo and El Campín stadiums, not only because they are located in the towns that enter quarantine on January 12 and until January 21, but because these scenarios are in adjustments.

“We have the problem for the first dates because El Campín, as well as Techo are being repaired. We are looking for alternative stadiums. The restriction and quarantines affect and we are dealing with everything to start on the 17th,” he added.

In addition, Dimayor confirmed that for now it will not open accreditations for the press, due to the current situation of the pandemic, which makes it impossible for journalists to enter the stages. With the exception of the staff of the official Colombian soccer channel.

Likewise, we will continue to see the possibility that fans can return to the stage in a short term.

Jaramillo made the balance of the soccer protocol applied in 2020, and guaranteed that it will be maintained for 2021 with all the rigor.

“We are below the national average which is 3 percent of infections, we are at 1.5. At the beginning we had a high average, but at the end of the championship it dropped substantially. We have massive contagion teams like what happened in Junior and National, but that has improved with the protocol, which it will follow, and with the commitment of the players and doctors to start the championship on the 17th, of course monitoring the reality we are experiencing and the evolution of the pandemic. “

Finally, he confirmed that Dimayor is in constant dialogue with the Ministries of Sports and Health. And it revealed the number of PCR tests that have been done so far on the equipment.

“The last championship, between women’s and men’s soccer, we did more than 25 thousand PCR tests and we are going to maintain that in this first semester.”
