UJAP Quimper Badminton: A Promising New Era with the Return of Emblematic Players

UJAP Quimper Badminton is entering a promising new era, marked by the return of emblematic players and a renewed dynamic. After a decade of meteoric rise, culminating in the Nationale 2 promotion play-offs in 2019, the club experienced a period of uncertainty. But the Olympic year 2024 marks the time for a new lease of life.

It all starts with the return of Tino Daoudal, 20 years old, who decided to leave the international scene and his life between Lyon and Strasbourg to return to his Cornish roots. This return inspires his father Philippe, who sees the opportunity to relaunch the club with new energy. The snowball effect begins. Last March, Simon Manéo, eager to get back into training, returned to training. His return was crowned with success with two tournament victories and a final. Hearing the news, Martin Biger, former emblematic player of the club, expressed his desire to wear the pink jersey again: “Despite my work in Paris, I can make myself available for the championship days.”

It is therefore three former number 1s of the club who return simultaneously, considerably strengthening the men’s team for next season. Alongside Tino, Simon and Martin, Maxence Thomas will also bring his talent. Motivations of players who return to their favorite club::

Tino Daoudal : A change of life and a return to basics, with an upcoming start at engineering school in Brest.
Simon Manéo : After years devoted to tennis, he missed badminton. The opportunity to train alternately with the club and obtain a state coaching diploma was ideal.
Martin Bigger : Parisian life being too busy, he is looking for a breath of Breton sea air, especially since he can now telework and see his family again.

An unconditional love for badminton, gratitude to their training club, a fighting spirit and the desire to experience great collective emotions: this is what unites these three players. The new dynamic is underway, as Paul Reuter, founding member and sporting director of the club, points out: “Currently, we are in full discussions to optimize next season.” The general assembly on June 7 will be an opportunity to officially present this new direction and the ambitions of the club. A new train is in motion, get ready, the journey promises to be magnificent!
