The New York Yankees confirmed Wednesday they have signed infielder DJ LeMahieu for the next six seasons.
According to what MLB.com reported earlier this month, the deal is worth a total of $ 90 million, or an annual average of $ 15 million.
LeMahieu, who has also spent the last two seasons in Yankees uniform, was a coveted free agent this winter. For good reason, the 32-year-old Californian led major league baseball in batting average (.364) last year. He also finished third in the ballot for the American League MVP, behind winner Jose Abreu and Jose Ramirez.
To a lesser extent, the Yankees would also have reached a one-year deal for $ 2.5 million with reliever Darren O’Day, according to what MLB.com learned on Wednesday.
