James Wiseman compared to 2 huge stars by former champions

If we talk a lot about Stephen Curry to the Warriors, we must not forget to mention the case of James Wiseman. The rookie emerges as a nice surprise, to the point of being compared to two huge stars. This is to say if the league starts to get carried away concerning him.

Steph Curry? Yes, everyone knows what he is capable of. It’s hardly surprising to see him get off to a big start to the season, even if his first meetings were a bit sluggish. However, he is not the only one to make an impression on the California side. This is also the case of James Wiseman, the rookie who continues to gain strength.

With 19 units for his first NBA game, the second pick of the 2020 draft did not take long to make a name for himself. This is even more the case against the Pistons, where he managed a crazy action on the counterattack with a block, a comeback and the finish with a dunk.

Faced with such a move, Channing Frye, former NBA champion, made comparisons with Joel Embiid :

I saw his first game and I said, “this kid is on another level”. His intuition, his aggressiveness… When he had that block, then his comeback with the dunk, that’s the kind of thing you don’t often see. At his age, he can be a more aggressive Joel Embiid.

But he’s a rookie who is bound to make mistakes. He did not have a Summer League, nor a training camp.

After the game against Detroit, even Steve Kerr had compared his player to … Giannis Antetokounmpo. Here again, the coach refers to this famous action which seems to have convinced everyone.

His action à la Giannis was very impressive, in transition. His size, his presence in the racket, he made his best game in defense.

Same story from Steph Curry, which is full of praise:

He looked like Giannis in this situation. It was awesome. I think he takes his ease in order to become more aggressive.

Quite a comparison for James Wiseman, even if the road is still very long. However, it’s hard to deny that the Memphis product has some flair.
