Per Carlos Sainz the first day on the track is approaching with the colors of Ferrari. Having already started working on the simulator, the Spaniard will be on track next week in Fiorano with an old car, as well as Charles Leclerc.

This is what the newspaper reports RaceFans, according to which Ferrari has decided to dedicate a day of testing to each driver, even if the dates have not yet been established. Both Sainz and Leclerc will hit the track with the 2018 car, the SF71H. Having taken the new year, by regulation the Scuderia di Maranello could also have run with the SF90, the 2019 car, but having already a SF71H ready from last year (used to run Leclerc and Vettel at Mugello before the start of the 2020 world championship), apparently it was decided for convenience to run the drivers with the car 2018.

Ferrari would have liked to have the Spaniard run in the Abu Dhabi tests, but the regulation did not allow it: the ok was given to run even experienced drivers, as long as they did not race in 2020. Reason why Fernando Alonso was able to take to the track at Yas Marina and not Sainz. Carlos will therefore have to wait until next week to complete the first laps aboard a Cavallino car, waiting to discover the SF21 in the three days of testing which in all likelihood will be staged from 12 to 14 March in Bahrain.
