The soccer players were each sanctioned “with six hundred five thousand six hundred eighty pesos ($ 605,680) of fine and two (2) suspension dates for using offensive and rude language against a rival player during the development of the 2020 championship,” the bulletin says.

In their statements before the committee, the players acknowledge, among others, that the statements are directed at a fully identified rival player, and that these messages “occurred in a context of joy and euphoria generated by obtaining the Liga BetPlay DIMAYOR 2020 championship” . In addition, they offer their apologies for the statements issued.

In the video, the soccer players, in the middle of their celebration, launch serious insults against the Barranquilla Junior soccer player.

In its defense, América said: “After making the corresponding inquiries with Messrs. Cabrera, Torres and Vergara, in relation to the facts investigated by the Dimayor CDC in the Requirement, the club was informed that they correspond to isolated facts between players in their own environment … The club is of the opinion that art. 63 protects legal rights related to the Competition (Title II, Chapter III of the CDU-FCF on “Infractions in the Competition”), but that they occur in the field of play, in its vicinity or in any way related to the sporting event itself “.
