Commissioners have arrived! Thirty-three biathletes quickly withdrew from the race

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) and the Biathlon Association (SBR) have launched an investigation into the suspected mass withdrawal of athletes from regional competitions at the end of the year. After the arrival of the doping commissioners at the junior competitions in Izhevsk and Tchaikovsky, 33 biathletes withdrew from the competition.

“We recorded the mass check-out of athletes and handed the case over to the investigation department,” RUSADA spokeswoman Maria Markov told Russian media.

The events of the end of December were also addressed by the Russian Biathlon Union. “We are dealing with the representatives of the regions, everyone had their own reasons (unsubscribing). In any case, unsubscribing from the competition does not relieve athletes of the obligation to submit to doping control.

The Russians got the most rich at the exhibition, the Czech couple took the prize for sixth place

Russian biathletes have been associated with systematic doping in the last decade, which means that the National Union lost its full membership in the IBU in 2017 and is only a temporary member.
