Bundesliga: Arminia Bielefeld pulls Hertha BSC into the relegation battle

Hertha BSC has arrived in the relegation battle of the Bundesliga. The ambitious Berliners showed a very poor performance on the Bielefelder Alm and lost 0: 1 (0: 0) against the local Arminia. With the win, the Bielefeld team left the relegation ranks and are now in 15th place with 13 points. Hertha has only three points more in twelfth place.

There was only one upset in the first half. Referee Guido Winkmann decided on a penalty kick after a supposed foul by Niklas Stark on Fabian Klos. The contact was minimal, which is probably why the video assistant stepped in and Winkmann reversed his decision after viewing the TV images on the monitor on the sidelines.

Even after the break, the game was balanced and of a low standard. The Berliners managed to concede the day’s goal after a throw-in (64th minute). After an extension of the header in the penalty area, Reinhold Yabo cleverly put the body in against Peter Pekarik, gained the decisive advantage and shot the ball from ten meters under the crossbar. Hertha got a little better after replacing Krzysztof Piatek in the closing stages, a goal from Poland was withdrawn because of a handball by the video assistant (86th).
