Youssoufa Moukoko scores a record goal – Borussia Dortmund still loses at Union

Youssoufa Moukoko scored his first Bundesliga goal for Borussia Dortmund, but BVB lost 1: 2 (0: 0) at Union Berlin.

Taiwo Awoniyi (57th minute) gave Union the lead after a corner, then Moukoko scored his record goal to equalize (60th). At 16 years and 28 days, Moukoko is now the youngest scorer in the Bundesliga. Dortmund could not be happy about a point win, because Marvin Friedrich also scored the winning goal after a corner kick (78th). For the new BVB coach Edin Terzić it was the first defeat in the second game.

“It’s great that we win the game with two standards,” said Berlin’s captain Christopher Trimmel on ZDF: “There was a lot of passion, no opponent has an easy time against us.” Trimmel said of Moukoko: “You have to go to the young 16 – Congratulating year olds on the Bundesliga, that’s something very special. “

Mats Hummels was annoyed about the goals conceded. “We mess ourselves up, we are responsible for our defeats,” said Hummels at Dazn: “It also has something to do with how much you want a victory.”

BVB developed more possession of the ball early on and put the hosts under pressure with high pressure. Jadon Sancho, who often swapped positions on the wings with Giovanni Reyna, missed the first chance to take the lead (10th). Union was defensive but mostly safe and kept lurking for counterattacks that surprised BVB several times.

After a mistake by Thomas Meunier, Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Bürki held strong against Taiwo Awoniyi (17th), who had finished after 92 seconds. The hosts, who had to do without top scorer Max Kruse and six other professionals, got stronger during this phase.

Dortmund has the ball, Union the corner kicks

BVB made mistakes in the structure. The almost 70 percent possession in the first half was too seldom used by Dortmund in dangerous scenes in front of the Berliner Tor. In one of the few finishes, Moukoko only hit the post (45th).

Terzić had warned against the courageous Berliners, who held against it with great effort even after the break. Cedric Teuchert checked Bürki (54th), before Awoniyi took the lead after a corner.

Dortmund came increasingly dangerous in front of the goal – and cheered with Moukoko, who equalized with a strong left-footed shot. In the past few weeks, the 16-year-old made his debut as the youngest player in the history of the Bundesliga and the Champions League. The joy did not last long, however, Friedrich punished the negligence with the renewed Berlin leadership with a head after a corner.
