Chemnitz wins cellar duel in Giessen

The Niners Chemnitz celebrated their first win of the season on the 7th day of the basketball league. The climber from Saxony won the basement duel at the Gießen 46ers on Friday with 95:83 (47:44). The best throwers in the team of coach Rodrigo Pastore were Isiaha Mike (19 points) and Terrell Harris (18).

“The first victory in the BBL is a historic success for us. The decisive factor was that we as a team showed self-confidence even in difficult phases and that we worked very well as a team,” said top scorer Mike after the game at “MagentaSport”.

After a quick 2: 9 deficit (3rd), the Chemnitz team fought their way back and were able to equalize in the second quarter with a lay-up from George King to 25:25 (11th). Even a subsequent 0: 8 run did not bother the Niners. Driven by a strong Harris in this phase, the Pastore team found their way into the game better and better towards the end of the first half and went into the break with a narrow lead.

After the break, the Saxons extended their lead to twelve points. Marcus Thornton scored with a three-point throw to 69:57 (29th). In the final quarter, the Niners presented themselves smarter and, above all, more accurate from close range. When Harris scored to 92:78 in the 39th minute, the game was decided.
