Slovakia, which has suffered a debacle in preparation with the Czech Republic, has only two NHL-drafted players – defender Samuel Kňažek (Columbus) and forward Martin Chromiak (Los Angeles) in the squad after the removal of striker Maxim Tchaikovich from training due to violations of sports and human values. Among the defenders is also the son of the head coach Róbert Petrovický Rayen, the grandson of the former national team coach of the Czech Republic and Slovakia Vladimír Vůjtek senior.
Bastian Guggenheim from Langnau, whose mother comes from Ostrava, has Czech origin in the Swiss team. He presented himself at the championship near her birthplace last year.
The Czech team will enter Group B on Saturday at 20:00 CET against Sweden, the title is defended by Canadian hockey players.
