Thomas Davis to retire at the end of the 2020 campaign

Casualties keep piling up for el Washington Football Team. A day ago the team reported the end of the employment relationship with Dwayne Haskins and this Tuesday the retirement of one of his defenders was notified at the end of the campaign.

Through your Instagram account Thomas Davis reported that the 2020 season has been his last in the NFL. He also explained that for the commitment against Eagles he will wear a pair of sports shoes that will honor his best moments in the league.

This weekend will be my last regular season game. [El artista] Mache helped me remember and reflect on some things that I have been able to accomplish over 16 years in la NFL. Some things can happen that make you feel that you do not deserve it, know that no one can steal what God has planned for your life. I am fortunately blessed and grateful for every opportunity that I have received because nothing is free. You work hard and pray that God’s plans align with yours “, detailed the linebacker.

Davis, 37, was drafted by the Panthers with the fourteenth overall pick in the 2005 Draft, hailing from Georgia, and for more than a decade and a half was invited to three Pro Bowls, received the Walter Peyton Award in 2014 and was elected to the All-Pro First Team in 2015, the same year he reached the Super Bowl with Carolina.

At the sports level, he played 13 seasons in Carolina (in addition to a year lost due to a knee injury), a season with Chargers and another in the capital. In total, he recorded 1,216 tackles, 11 fumbles recovered, 13 interceptions and a touchdown; all this in 199 games, 174 as a starter.

To prolong your career

Even though his last regular-season appearance will be on Sunday Night Football in Week 17, Thomas may have one last playoff ride. For the above to happen, the WFT requires defeating the Eagles; no other result favors them.
