The day Tuchel lost hopelessly to the PSG dressing room

On December 8, PSG and Istanbul Başakşehir starred in a historic episode in the Champions League. Both teams decided to leave the field of play after Sebastian Coltescu, fourth official for the match, directed a racist insult to Webó that led to the suspension of the match.

As AS has learned, that day marked the end of Thomas Tuchel’s relationship with the PSG dressing room. The German coach refused to allow his players to go to the dressing room and made a speech in which he stated that what happened was a plot against PSG and its squad. Zoumana Camará, former player of the Parisian team and member of the coaching staff, supported the German’s words, generating a tension that anticipated Leonardo’s decision to fire the already former PSG coach.

In fact, Tuchel spent several minutes during the altercation sitting on the bench and trying to keep his players on the grass. His behavior was the straw that broke the camel’s back, since his relationship with Leonardo was broken since last year and his staff was the thread on which he relied to continue in Paris.

Sources close to the club indicate to AS that the physical preparation of the European runner-up was also being questioned, in addition to his style of play, whose only premise was to play with Mbappé and Neymar through individualities. Tuchel’s statements on Wednesday, stating that he felt like a Sports Minister rather than a coach, were not momentous, since Leonardo made the decision to fire him from the day the match against Istanbul was called off and ended in a 5-1 victory for PSG the following day.
