The Chargers don’t deserve a coach like Anthony Lynn • First and Ten

Bill O’Brien, Dan Quinn and Matt Patricia – Three coaches who lost their jobs this 2020 season after months (or years) of poor technical direction and devastating team losses. Adam Gase aside, it seems that Anthony Lynn is one of the next heads to cut in the NFL. It shouldn’t surprise us, what’s more: I’d be surprised if it doesn’t happen and I’m surprised that it hasn’t happened yet.

The Los Angeles Chargers record can be very misleading. They were able to compete against some Bucs and some Saints. They lost heartbreakingly in the dying moments to the Broncos and Raiders, and even fought off some stoned Miami Dolphins.

Also, what Justin Herbert has done this year as a rookie is impressive: He could still break the record for passes to touchdown for a rookie, he was the first rookie to have five games with at least three touchdown passes, he has the rookie record of more yards in a first half and the list goes on and on.

Even with incredible performances from Herbert (who is on his way to being the Offensive Rookie of the Year), we might think that a rebuilding team must have several problems (all you have to do is turn to Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals). However, the Bengals don’t have as powerful an offense as the Chargers: Keenan Allen, Hunter Henry, Mike Williams, Austin Ekeler. An offensive that, with another coachIt would be one of the most powerful in the league.

All of this just shows us that Anthony Lynn’s days should be numbered. Much of the losses the Chargers have had this season can be fully blamed on the coaching staff in Los Angeles, especially those last-minute losses that, sadly, many Chargers fans are getting used to.

A team with so much potential and talent does not deserve to go 3-9 and yes, it is a team effort. However, when a team shows so many powerful pieces there is nothing left but to look at the heads on the sides to be able to decipher what is failing.

What do you think of Anthony Lynn’s situation with the Chargers? We read you in the comments under this article and on our social networks.
