Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones gets a pen in his finger

TAMPA, Fla – Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back to Ronald Jones will be undergoing a procedure Tuesday morning to insert a needle into his left pinky, a source said Tuesday.

Jones suffered a broken pinky while blocking early in Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. He was able to return to the game and raced 80 meters in 18 runs.

Sources close to the situation said it is currently unclear whether Jones will eventually be out with the injury. One said they wouldn’t know until later this week but he still had a chance to play.

Jones is in the middle of a breakout season. Its 900 rushing yards are currently the fourth most in the NFL. More importantly, coach Bruce Arians recently reaffirmed the Bucs’ commitment to the ball.

When Jones can’t leave, LeSean McCoy and Leonard Fournette are both options, as are rookie Ke’Shawn Vaughn. McCoy, who hadn’t seen any real action since week 6, stepped in on Sunday and rushed with four porters for 32 yards and had a catch for 3 yards while Fournette was a healthy scratch.

Broad recipient Chris Godwin suffered a broken index finger that took 10 pens in week 7 of this season. He missed week 8 before returning in week 9.
