Real Madrid is in danger of entering the Europa League. This happened after Los Blancos were beaten by Shakhtar Donetsk 0-2 in the Champions League.
Madrid faces Donetsk at the NSK Olympiyskiy Stadium, Kiev, Wednesday (2/12/2020) in the morning WIB. The surprising results were obtained by Zinedine Zidane’s troops.
Toni Kroos et al lost 0-2, after Thibaut Courtois’ goal was broken into twice, each by Dentinho and Manor Solomon.
The defeat was the second that Madrid swallowed in the Champions League this season. Interestingly, both came from Shakhtar, where Madrid also lost 2-3 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The defeat of Shakhtar made Madrid stuck in third place in Group B with 7 points. The LaLiga representatives are below Borussia Moenchengladbach (8) and Shakhtar (7), where the Ukrainian representatives excel head-to-head over Madrid. Madrid is only above Inter Milan, which has only collected 5 points.
Madrid is also in danger of jumping into the Europa League if they fail to make it to the last 16 this season. The record is clearly embarrassing, because Madrid are in fact the most successful team in the Champions League with a score of 13 titles, and have never entered the second caste.
Madrid itself must win the last match in order to qualify for the phase knock out. On the sixth matchday, Madrid will host Gladbach at the Bernabeu, 10 December.
