PSG: the 5 changes of coach under the QSI era

As mentioned this Thursday (see the 11h18 news), Paris Saint-Germain sacked their coach Thomas Tuchel, the day after a victory against Strasbourg (4-0) in Ligue 1. This is the fifth departure of a coach since the arrival of the Qataris in the capital in 2011.

Antoine Kombouaré was the first to jump. Like Tuchel, Kanak had learned of his departure as Christmas approached, on December 22, 2011. PSG was then leading the championship but Leonardo wanted a more flashy name to get the project off the ground and chose Carlo Ancelotti. Believing that he had lacked support from his leaders during the season, the Italian decided to leave in 2013 for Real Madrid after winning the title of champion of France.

Laurent Blanc will follow between 2013 and 2016 with twelve national trophies won. The elimination against Manchester City in the Champions League will be the failure that will cost him his place. Chosen to take Paris in C1 after winning the three previous editions of the Europa League, Unai Emery failed and will remain associated with the comeback of FC Barcelona. Tuchel, he can boast of having taken Paris SG to the final of the Champions League for the first time in its history. But the game offered by his team, despite high quality players, will not be remembered.

The five coaches of PSG under the QSI era:

Antoine Kombouaré: 2009-December 2011

Carlo Ancelotti: December 2011-2013

Laurent Blanc: 2013-2016

Unai Emery: 2016-2018

Thomas Tuchel: 2018-December 2020
