Albert Kelly hit a bump on his way to his NRL return after being sent back to the feeder side of the Broncos, Souths Logan Magpies, after showing up to practice out of shape.
Kelly signed a train-and-rehearsal contract with the 29-year-old with the Broncos The Sydney Morning Herald last week: “This could be the last chance and I’ll take it with both hands.”
Former playmaker Sharks and Titans played 47 NRL games before moving to the Super League.
Unfortunately for Kelly, his return had a slight setback.

“He trained with us, great Albert, but he put on a few pounds so we had to send him back to Souths and run a little more,” said Bronco coach Kevin Walters The big sports breakfast from Sky Sports Radio.
“Unfortunately he had 14 days in quarantine when he returned from England, where he was playing for Hull. He was isolated for 14 days so he couldn’t train a lot and that is always difficult for the players when you are locked in a hotel room. He also has two or three children. “
It’s not the end for Kelly, although Walters remains confident that the talented player will return to Red Hill soon.

“He’ll be back in the new year, I would say, or in the next week or two,” said Walters.
“My memories of Albert Kelly, an exciting rugby player. He had some great times with the Titans, then went overseas and had two or three great years with Hull.
“We’ll be very much looking forward to getting our hands on it. Also his skills and his knowledge of the game, he has now played in both hemispheres, so a very experienced player.
“The Broncos, that was an area last year where they lacked a lot of experience in most positions, so he brings value to the experience there too. I look forward to working with him. “
