Nikita Masepin: Formula 1 climber causes sexism scandal

NIkita Masepin, son of a billionaire, future teammate of Mick Schumacher in Formula 1, is sitting in a luxury car. The passenger is on the move through the night, he turns around, grabs a woman in the back seat by the breast, she defends herself and shows the 21-year-old the middle finger.

With this video on his Instagram channel, Bad Boy Masepin has now caused outrage and a shit storm on social networks. The sexism scandal could even cost the Russians his Formula 1 job at Haas at Schumacher’s side. In any case, the American team reacted on Wednesday with clear words to the video, which was deleted after a short time.

The matter is resolved “internally”

“Haas does not tolerate the behavior of Nikita Masepins in the recently posted video,” it said in a message: “The mere fact that this video was published, we find disgusting.” The matter will now be clarified “internally” and for the time being do not comment further. An online petition is running in which the world association Fia and “all parties involved are called upon to take immediate action” to “remove Nikita Masepin from his Formula 1 seat”.

In a first reaction, the son of a Russian oligarch, who has already been conspicuous, apologized for his “inappropriate” behavior “and also for the fact that it was published on social media”. He felt sorry for the “insult and exposure of the Haas team”, but Masepin’s message did not convey a complete understanding of why his behavior was so problematic: “As a Formula 1 driver, I have to adhere to certain standards. I understand that I have disappointed myself and many other people. I will learn from it. “

Masepin’s lack of discipline

Like Schumacher, Masepin was still racing in Formula 2 this season, and next year he will make his debut in the premier class alongside the German. In the past, Masepin has repeatedly attracted attention for his lack of discipline. He received numerous penalty points on the track last season and was about to be suspended. In 2016, however, he had already caused a stir outside the car when he beat up British Ferrari junior Callum Ilott after a Formula 3 training session. Masepin was banned from a race at the time.

Should Haas actually throw Masepin out, the team could face economic consequences. His father Dimitri is the head of a chemical company and has become extremely rich, especially with fertilizers. Team boss Günter Steiner made no secret of the fact that the Hitzkopf’s commitment also had financial reasons.

Paydriver are “part of the business” in the expensive Formula 1, and Masepin senior, whose fortune is currently estimated at two billion dollars, is expected to join Haas as a sponsor. “Why not?” Steiner asked last.
