NFL: Baltimore snatches decisive win over Cleveland in crazy game

A record from 1922

In a crazy attacking match, both teams scored 9 ground touchdowns, tying a 1922 record! After constant back and forth that see the two teams surrender blow for blow, a touchdown from Lamar Jackson (11/17, 163 yards, 1 TD – 9 races, 124 yards, 2 TDs) in the race allows Baltimore to lead to the break with a short advantage (21-14).

Returning from the locker room, Gus Edwards (7 races, 49 yards, 2 TDs), already author of a touchdown in the first half gives cover and Baltimore takes a 14 point lead. After touchdowns from Kareem Hunt (6 runs, 33 yards, 1 TD – 6 rec, 77 yards, 1 TD) on one side and JK Dobbins (13 runs, 53 yards, 1 TD) on the other, the Ravens are still ahead of 14 points at the start of the fourth and last quarter time (34-20).

The Browns will then make a perfect start to the quarter. Baker Mayfield (28/47, 343 yards, 2 TDs, 1 int) finds Rashard Higgins in the endzone at the start of the last period, then the defense hits a stop. And it is this same Mayfield who scores on the ground to put Cleveland in front (34-35) with 6 minutes and 33 seconds from the end.

Lamar Jackson hero of the Ravens

Lamar Jackson, then out because of cramps, will complete a 4 & 5 in midfield by finding Marquise Brown (2 rec, 50 yards, 1 TD) for a 44-yard touchdown that brings the Ravens back in front.

But the Browns will score again one minute from the end, by the untenable Kareem Hunt.

The 2019 MVP will therefore once again have to play the heroes. Jackson wins 38 yards in four consecutive passes to put Justin Tucker in position for the winning field goal. A successful 55-yard kick with 2 seconds remaining on the clock (45-42). Game Over.

After this meeting, the two teams still have their destiny in hand in the race for the play-offs but the margin for error is slim.
