Montpellier: Maria Guedez shines the Clapas at the Sambo World Cup

A resident at Jita Kyoei Judo 34, the Venezuelan and neo-Montpellierian returned with the money from the competition organized in Russia in mid-December.

Maria Guedez won her ninth world bronze medal in Serbia (under 48 kg category) on November 7.

Meeting with the little judokas

Maria was then international Venezuelan in the discipline and in judo. Holder of nine world medals including two titles, she is considered a legend of combat sports in Latin America!

Back from Russia and before returning to the reality of her studies and her work, the 2015 world champion met the young licensees of her club, Jita Kyoei Judo 34.

On a Christmas camp in Juvignac after two months of videoconference training, the forty little judokas reunited with their teachers: Marina, Clémentine, Charlène and Chloé, with a physical recovery program accompanied by games and relaxation workshops.

Qualify for the French championships

This meeting was a nice surprise. The time to admire the last two world medals of Maria and the questions have flared. How did she prepare despite the closure of the dojos? What were her beginnings as a fighter in Venezuela? What are her secrets to becoming a champion? A moment of wonder which may give birth to vocations!

After this internship which was a breath of fresh air for the children, teachers and judokas hope to resume a practice adapted to the dojo in January.

For Maria Guedez, the judo objective will also be collective with a beautiful female team at Jita Kyoei and whose ambition is to qualify for the French championships in 2021.

With her teammates, they will do everything to brilliantly represent the city of Montpellier… as well as Venezuela!

Jita Kyoei Judo 34 takes its source in the district of La Paillade where it is anchored in a voluntary social policy to allow the greatest number of children in difficulty to access a sport by teaching judo and values ​​of respect and self-control.
