Lance Lynn traded from Rangers for White Sox for potential clients – The Athletic

Nobody in the industry could understand. Why did the Rangers not move Lance Lynn at the close of trading on August 31st when its value could never have been higher?

It turned out there was a reason.

Lynn and his agent at Excel Sports Management, Bobby Barad, told Rangers that if he were sent to a team that Major League sources said he would not want to join, he would cancel the season.

The story ended happily for Lynn and the Rangers on Monday night when the team reached an agreement with the White Sox on a deal that will reunite the right-handed with his former manager at the Cardinals, Tony LaRussa.

The deal, which is pending medical review, will appear to bring a cheap return on investment for the Rangers – right-handed Dane Dunning, who is # 6 in the White Sox’s Deep System according to Keith Law, and left-handed Avery Weems, the Sox’s choice in the sixth round in 2019.
