Invincible in your Huertas | Total Basketball

With Marcelinho Huertas as a figure, Iberostar Tenerife defeated MoraBanc Andorra and scored 13th victory in the Spanish ACB League. Bruno Fitipaldo’s team remains undefeated playing at home, both locally and internationally.

For the 16th round of the Endesa League, Iberostar Tenerife and MoraBanc Andorra faced each other. The former came from suffering their second defeat in the tournament against Baskonia, in a game in which they did not have their two bases. Meanwhile, his rival on duty, in his last presentation had defeated Estudiantes de Madrid at home. Those led by Txus Vidorreta presented a quintet made up of Bruno Fitipaldo, Sasu Salin, Sergio Rodríguez, Tyler Cavanaugh and the Georgian Giorgi Shermadini. For their part, those commanded by Ibón Navarron jumped to the court with Clevin Hannah, Oriol Pauli, Bandja Sy, Haukur Palsson and the Sierra Leonean Babatunde Olumuyiwa.

The match played at the Santiago Martín Sports Pavilion showed an extremely balanced start, in which both teams tried to capture their main offensive attributes in the rectangle. As has happened throughout the season, the local cast sought to hurt the low post with the presence of their captain, Giorgi Shermadini. Meanwhile, the visiting team had a fiery Haukur Palsson, who scored at medium and long distance. Averaging the second quarter, with a pair of consecutive scores from Nacho Llovet, Andorra’s men managed to open a six-point lead. However, from the hand of Santi Yusta and Marcelinho Huertas, the Canaries put a quick partial of 11-0, to take control of the actions.

At the beginning of the second half, the homeowner was in front in figures of 45 to 40. In the third period, the best version of those led by Txus Vidorreta could be observed, who placed a resounding 30-15 partial, which allowed to obtain an income of 20 points. In this period, the figures of Spencer Butterfield and Tyler Cavanaugh were decisive, scoring absolutely everything they threw from beyond 6.75 meters. When it seemed that the game was finished, with a couple of bombs to the thread of the Pole Tomasz Gielo, those led by Ibón Navarro put a 15-1, which put them in party. However, the double base formed by Huertas and Fitipaldo gave the team the peace of mind to close the game in their favor. Finally, Iberostar Tenerife won 93-81 and thus remains undefeated playing at home, both in the ACB League and in the Champions League.

The winner was the performance of Marcelinho Huertas, who scored 19 points and distributed 9 assists, well accompanied by Giorgi Shermadini with 17 points and 11 rebounds. On the loser’s side, Tomasz Gielo finished as the scorer with 18 points.

Uruguayan point guard Bruno Fitipaldo scored 11 points (0/1 triples, 4/6 doubles and 3/6 free), distributed 1 assist, recovered 3 balls and received 4 fouls, in the 21:18 minutes that he remained on the court, for a total rating of 10.

The next commitment of the former Malvín team will be on Tuesday, when as a visitor they have to face Estudiantes de Madrid.
