The situation, says Christian Ebenbauer, CEO of the Bundesliga, “is stable under the circumstances”. The clubs have submitted their annual reports, the bare figures can, but need not be deceptive. The fact is: Vienna Austria has a minus of almost 19 million euros, and it also has liabilities of 78 million. Ebenbauer: “It’s the outlier on the downside. I can only hope that Austria can handle the situation, ideally without bankruptcy.” One has to differentiate in the case of economic difficulties. “Are they solely due to Covid or not? I cannot and will not give a judgment about Austria.”
