According to L’Equipe, Tuchel was fired a few hours after Wednesday’s 4-0 victory over Strasbourg. Even before the middle of the league competition, however, the defending champions already have four defeats to their credit and in the table they are in third place with a one-point deficit for Lyon and Lille.
Forty-seven-year-old Tuchel, a former coach of Mainz and Dortmund, has worked at the Paris Club since the summer of 2018 and had a contract until the end of the current season. He led the team to the title in both previous years and in the past he also added triumphs in the French and League Cups.

In the Champions League, he advanced to the finals, in which he lost to Bayern Munich 0: 1 in Lisbon. In the new year, PSG won the basic group ahead of Leipzig and Manchester United and will play against Barcelona in the round of 16.
A year older, Pochettino last led Tottenham Hotspur, having previously worked in Southampton and Spanish Barcelona. The former defender played for PSG from 2001 to 2003.
