Ex-Warriors Center Andrew Bogut retires

Andrew Bogut announced his retirement on Tuesday night. After a total of 15 years in professional basketball and the championship with the Golden State Warriors 2015, the Australian Big Man is hanging up on his sneakers.

“The decision was not easy, but I think it is the right one,” said Bogut on his podcast, “Rogues Bogues Podcast”. “I have made up my mind not to sign anywhere next season. I will end my professional basketball career with immediate effect.”

The 36-year-old is considered one of the best and most successful Australian basketball players of all time. In 2005 he came as the No. 1 pick of the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA and put in a total of 14 years in the Association for the Bucks, Warriors, Mavs, Cavs and Lakers on average 9.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.2 Assists as well as 1.5 blocks.

In addition to the 2015 title with the Golden State Warriors, there are also nominations for the All-Rookie First Team, All-NBA Third Team (2010) and All-Defensive Second Team (2015). In 2011, he collected the most blocks in the league.

After several injuries made his NBA career difficult, he moved back to his homeland in 2018, where he won the MVP award in the Sydney Kings jersey. Bogut originally wanted to end his career after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, but they were postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Bogut will then no longer be there.
