Christophe Dominici: his funeral will take place on Friday in Hyères

The former French international winger will then be buried, in the family vault in the cemetery of the Var city, with his older sister Pascale, who died in 1986 in a traffic accident.

On Wednesday, a mass will be celebrated at 10 am, in the Sainte-Cécile church of Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine) in the privacy.

Domi, as he was called, died last Tuesday at the age of 48 when he fell ten meters in Saint-Cloud (Hauts-de-Seine). A witness told investigators that he had seen him walking on the sidewalk of avenue de la Grille-d’Honneur, near the Park, down the sloping artery then suddenly switch to the right side, thus passing by above the concrete parapet bordering the avenue.

His death sparked a wave of emotions in the world of rugby, at the Stade Français where he made history by winning five Brennus Shields between 1997 and 2008, and well beyond.

On Saturday, a minute of silence, as on all rugby pitches this weekend, was observed during the Coupe d’Automne des nations match, France-Italy (36-5), at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis , where the father and the companion of the deceased, in tears, were notably present in the presidential platform, alongside Bernard Laporte, president of the French Federation. A giant portrait of 10×20 meters bearing the effigy of Domi had also been displayed.

Sunday, in Lyon where the Stade Français was playing a Top 14 match, a vibrant tribute was paid to him. Parisians and Lyonnais warmed up with a t-shirt, with a portrait of the former winger on the front and his famous number 11 on the back. The two teams, the staffs were also welded during a poignant minute of applause.
