Canoeing clubs, hurt with the Government of the Principality, will withdraw the promotion of “Asturian Sport”

The signing clubs (Fertiberia- Asociación Atlética Avilesina, Cangas Aventura-La Llongar, Los Cuervos de Pravia, Rapidos-Jaire Aventura, Villaviciosa El Gaitero, Canoeing El Sella, SCD Ribadesella, Los Albiones de Navia, Piraguas Sirio, Naútico Ensidesa and La Ribera -Oviedo Kayak) say they feel “abandoned” for a long time, as well as “discriminated against” in the calls for public subsidies, removing divisions in club grants, while staying in other sports “and cutting aid to our Federation”, they argue. At the same time they affect the “serious economic situation” they suffer, as they expected to have public aid to meet the expenses of 2020.

Likewise, almost all the clubs in the region, more than a dozen entities, are “hurt” by the lack of interest of the Government of the Principality in launching a Regional Technification Plan “That we value Asturian canoeing and allow us to regain the hegemony lost to the rest of Spain.” And as if that were not enough, they feel “irritated by the continuous obsession of investment in Asturian ski resorts”.

Likewise, “worried”For the health of athletes, who are unable to use the facilities to change and wash after training. From the affected clubs they consider that all the decisions that the Government of the Principality adopts in sports matters “are taken from ignorance and lack of interest towards canoeing”.

In view of the present panorama, most of the clubs in Asturias have made the decision to eliminate “all promotion of Sports Asturiano and Asturias Paraíso Natural” from their social networks and also from the material of the clubs themselves, considering “that the return of ‘sponsorship’ that we give It is greater than the support that the Principality gives us ”.

On the other hand, they request an urgent meeting with the President of the Principality, Adrián Barbón, and with the general director of Sport, Beatriz Álvarez Mesa. And, finally, they also demand an increase in the economic contribution that is destined to the promotion of sport, physical activity and the promotion of grassroots sports.
