Götze confirms negotiations with FC Bayern

For a long time it was open in the summer where Mario Götze was staying after leaving Dortmund. Now the 28-year-old confirms that there have been talks with FC Bayern. The offensive player is very happy with his decision for PSV Eindhoven.

Mario Götze has confirmed talks with Bayern Munich about a possible return to the German record champions. “In the summer we talked openly about my future, about Bayern’s plans. You said that you appreciate me as a person and a player and that you could have introduced yourself to Bayern again,” said the 2014 World Cup hero in an interview with the “Sport Bild”.

Götze finally left Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer to PSV Eindhoven. The fact that when he said goodbye to the Black and Yellows the impression was given that he had not received a new contract due to excessive salary demands is still bitter at Götze. “That was something that could have been solved more elegantly,” said the 28-year-old: “I was disappointed that it was presented in this way. It simply does not correspond to the truth. Money is not what drives me.”

Less hype than advantage

Götze is flourishing in Eindhoven, also because he is no longer as much in focus as it was when he was in the Bundesliga. In terms of sport, he remembers the 2011 and 2012 championship years in Dortmund under coach Jürgen Klopp. “We also try to play good and attractive offensive football with a lot of power,” said Götze: “Just like Bayern back then, Ajax are the clear favorites for the title.”

Above all, the lower media hype at the Dutch first division club seems to be good for him. “To be honest, I’m already happy about it. It has actually been like that since the beginning of my career. Of course, the focus is on PSV in Holland, but for me it’s a little more relaxed than the years before,” said Götze: ” The new environment, the new opponents, the new challenges, I like everything very much. “

At the same time, he renewed his desire to win the Champions League in his career. “I haven’t won a major international title at club level, I really want to achieve that. Now we’re attacking the Europa League with PSV. The Champions League is one size bigger – it still appeals to me.” In 2013 he reached the final with BVB, but missed the 2-1 defeat against FC Bayern due to injury.
