Ancelotti admits Ferguson asked to be Manchester United coach

LIVERPOOL – The news about Manchester United’s (MU) interest in Carlo Ancelotti in the past is apparently not a figment. Sir Alex Ferguson himself immediately asked the Italian coach to be his successor at Old Trafford.

This was revealed by Ancelotti. He talked about how Ferguson approached him to become a Manchester United coach after deciding to retire, seven years ago. Ancelotti said he was grateful to Ferguson for considering him but instead chose to accept a job at Real Madrid.

“I maintain a fantastic relationship with Sir Alex. We met when he decided to leave United but I am close to Real Madrid. I appreciate the fact that at that time he spoke with me, “said Ancelotti dailymail.

Ancelotti’s statement seemed to agree with what Ferguson had revealed. In 2015, the Scottish man revealed that Ancelotti was one of several highly desirable candidates apart from Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, Juergen Klopp to Louis van Gaal before selecting David Moyes.

Although he did not accept MU’s proposal, Ancelotti admitted that he did not regret it. The 61-year-old coach is now looking to the future with Everton.
