Amad Diallo: Winger receives passport ahead of Atalanta transfer to Manchester United Football News

Atalanta winger Amad Diallo was given a passport in Italy before transferring £ 37.2m to Manchester United, according to Sky.

United are optimistic the Ivorian will be granted a UK work permit so he can travel to Manchester next month.

The Premier League club confirmed that they struck a deal for the 18-year-old on the day of the October transfer deadline, shortly after Diallo’s planned move to Parma collapsed.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer switched to the winger after Borussia Dortmund’s long pursuit of England international Jadon Sancho failed.

Diallo moved to the Atalanta Academy in 2015 and made his senior debut last October in a 7-1 win over Udinese.

The youngster found the net after falling off the bench in that game, making it the first player born in 2002 to score a Serie A goal.

Diallo has made four appearances in Serie A, scoring seven goals and making 11 assists in 24 games for the youth team last season.

Diallo scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in the 2018/19 season. His impressive performances paved the way for him to train with Atalanta’s senior team.

Who is Amad Diallo?

Diallo, 18, was born in Ivory Coast before moving to Italy at the age of 10 and joining Atalanta in 2015.

The youngster made his debut for Atalanta last season and, at 17 years 109 days, became the youngest player to score in a 7-1 win over Udinese on his Serie A debut.

As a result, the Ivorian traveled to Lisbon with the Atalanta squad to lose to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals last summer.

Diallo, however, has only played 30 minutes of football in just three league games for Atalanta, while he has also been an unused replacement for the Italians this season.

However, the player has impressed so much in training that Papu Gomez recently compared him to a certain Lionel Messi.

“There are defenders in the first team who sometimes can’t stop him. To stop him in training we have to kick him! He plays like Messi,” said Atalanta’s captain.
