2 players tested positive for COVID-19 this week

The NBA announces that during the last week of COVID-19 tests, that is since December 16, only two new players have tested positive, out of the 558 tested. The league has not disclosed their identity, but we know that Ben McLemore recently tested positive.

Last week she announced 1 positive player and the one before 8, a big drop since the 48 of the recovery. Remember that for a history of contact cases, in particular concerning Kenyon Martin Jr., the Rockets did not have enough players available and the match against the Thunder was postponed.

Note that the players are tested daily and this could have a significant impact on the matches and unfortunately postponements can be expected. This is why the NBA has unveiled only the first part of its schedule in order to catch up with games later in the season.

It seems that for a positive test, the procedure to follow is the following, even if the NBA has not disclosed anything official:

  • Either wait 10 days since the first positive test or the onset of symptoms
  • or be tested negative twice at least 24 hours apart.

A positive player cannot train for at least 10 days. Once reinstated, for two days the player will only have to train individually in the absence of the rest of the team and he will not be able to use the locker room. In addition, he will have to wear a mask and pass a battery of cardiac tests.
