The Mexican Golf Federation assumes error and apologizes to Gaby López

The Mexican Golf Federation (FMG) apologized to the Mexicans, after not highlighting the best players for the National Sports Award.

Jorge Robleda, president of the organization, assumed responsibility for the error, after Gaby López and Lorena Ochoa point out the lack of action on their part.

“The FMG and I, as its President, accept our share of responsibility in this case. We deeply regret the error and we apologize not only to Gaby López and Abraham Ancer, but to all the golfers who, having had outstanding years previously, were not, in due course, eligible for the PND due to omission on the part of the FMG, “he said the manager.

Despite the good year in the LPGA and PGA Tour, López and Ancer will be left out in the professional category and the award was given to tennis player Renata Zarazúa.

The capital city highlighted the lack of attention and was later supported by Ochoa, who was awarded by the PND in 2008, when the women’s circuit reigned.

“Today we must celebrate how fortunate we are to have companies and entrepreneurs who believe in the talent of Mexican youth golfers,” added Robleda.

“Very soon we will be taking up the work that was pending towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. We have no doubt that we will be represented by Mexicans who deeply love their country and the FMG only intends to be a facilitator so that Carlos [Ortiz], Abraham, Gaby and Maria [Fassi], achieve their best performance during the competition, and if in that process, their work is awarded a medal, they will go down in history as Olympic medalists ”.
